I have a quick and dirty post for you today to show off Femme Fatale Cosmetics July Colour Of The Month, ‘Desolate’. This is such a pretty, PRETTY polish. The second it came in my door I had to swatch it. I took lots of photos and even found it hard to narrow down as much as I did. It’s just got so many things going on, without being too much you know?
Desolate is a vibrant blue-toned purple with strong colour shifting shimmer, blue and holographic hexes in a few different, small sizes and tiny holographic speckles.
The amount of glitters in Desolate is very nice, not too many, so it wasn’t a huge PIA for removal which I really liked. But the definite star of the polish is that shimmer. The shift it has happening is flipping outstanding. Hard to capture in a nice photo so you’re just going to have to believe me and see for yourself. This makes this polish, for me, one of the best ‘must-have’ stand alone shades I’ve seen for a while.
The consistency of the polish was a tad more dense than what I’ve used from Femme Fatale recently, but not a problem at all, just something I noticed when swatching. It’s actually my preferred consistency of polish, making it opaque easily and full of all that shifty goodness. It was easy to apply with no issues at all, opaque in two coats, but I did a third because I really wanted as much depth as possible. For regular wear though I would happily keep it at two coats.
There we go! I told you I had lots of images! For those of you who don’t know me and my camera, I’ll also mention that what appears to be brushstrokes in the shimmer are not actually visible in real life on the nails, it’s just something my camera does which on one hand is great, as it shows all the bits of the polish, but on the other hand, misrepresents it a little. In reality that colour shift is gradual, smooth, and brushstroke-free, and in the case of this polish, strong.
Desolate will be available from Femme Fatale Cosmetics July 1st in a 48 hour pre-sale. Don’t forget if you missed out on attending Aussie Indie Con you can also grab the two exclusives, Balefire and Lodestar at the same time as well. You can find my swatches of those HERE.
