Today we’re taking a look at two ‘cat-eye’ gel polishes from US brand, Madam Glam. Having recently tried magnetic nail polishes, I was eager to try the same style out in gel polish format as I love the finish these ones get.
With these swatches today I used a cat-eye magnet from Dance Legend, which I have found to be the best and strongest one I have in my possession. What I found while swatching these, is that you need to be really fast when using the magnet, as the gel polish ‘settles’ again really fast after using it. With both of these polishes, I used the magnet, then cured immediately, working on one nail at a time. You need to use the magnet prior to curing too, as once the gel polish is set, the magnetic effect will not work.
Born To Be A Star is a taupey/brown with red tones throughout it. It has a silver shimmer that shows with the magnet and a little bit of holo sparkle throughout which you can see in the sunlight. This was the first one I swatched, and I did just one coat, then used the magnet on each finger, one at a time, curing immediately. As you can see, I had significant pull-back with the gel on this, so next time, I’ll be doing two coats, or using a solid base. You can use these over a black base too, but I think that you lose a lot of the gorgeous colour doing it like that.
Look Me In The Eye is a vibrant sea blue with green tones and a turquoise shimmer. Learning from my previous swatches, this time I applied two coats of polish. The first coat, I didn’t bother with using the magnet, I just wanted a solid base. The second coat, I used the magnet as I mentioned, and it turned out great!
As with all the cat-eye products I’ve tried, these have amazing depth off camera, and have the illusion of the magnetic strips ‘moving’ on the nail. It’s really an awesome thing to see. Overall I really enjoyed these two from this line and would absolutely try them again.
Madam Glam have a huge range of cat-eye gel’s in their store, and they ship worldwide in good time.
