Today I have OPI’s latest Australian release, getting us all pumped for warmer weather and clear days, this is the Retro Summer Collection. This is a six piece Limited Edition set, that was released earlier in the year in the Northern Hemisphere and has now made it down under to us.
What’s The Double Scoop is a traditional pastel pink shade, very nice on it’s own or as the base for something extra. It was smooth to apply, a little streaky though needing three coats for a finish I was happy with.
Towel Me About It is a pastel yellow reminding me of a young chicks fluff. So cute. I knew this one would need some extra care, and it was three coats for opacity for me being a bit streaky at first. The end result is worth it though as it’s a really lovely shade.
SPF XXX is a bright coral that leans more towards orange in reality. It’s a fair bit brighter than my photos. My camera did not want to deal with it at all. But it certainly has that traditional Summer brightness that makes this shade a winner in the collection. This one was just two coats for my swatches.
Sailing And Nailing is a fresh Summery blue and was the surprise of the bunch formula-wise for me. I only needed two coats for my swatches which I was super chuffed about as I thought I would need more.
I’m Getting A Tan-gerine is an orange shade with a touch of pastel making it not so ‘in your face’. This one was a bit streaky on application but turned out well with three coats.
Lastly, we have Flip Flops & Crop Tops which is a brighter pink and just perfect for pedicures! I have been wearing it on my tootsies since I got it and I’m feeling ready for BBQ’s and lazing in the sunshine! My swatches are two coats and topcoat.
What do you think of this collection? I am really loving these colours for Summer as I am feeling a bit over neons right now, and am more pleased with fresh, classy and bright pastel cremes. For me, I cannot get enough cremes these days for regular wear for myself. These are also really versatile and make great combo’s together for some nail art. I was surprised to not see a violet in there somewhere, but the colour selection is pretty nice.
The Retro Summer Collection is available now from MYER, David Jones Stores and select salons Australia-wide.
