Today I have an enormous post for you to share some of Lilypad Lacquer’s NEW core colours! There are 30 in total, however I only have 15 of them here for you today! I am still waiting for the sun to reappear so I can finish swatching the other 15 shades. Stupid weather. In the meantime, feast your eyes on these fab colours!
These polishes are completely different to anything I have tried from not only any Aussie indie, but any indie I have ever tested worldwide. For the past year, Nicole, the owner of Lilypad, has been working with a chemist to create pure colour that is FDC approved, 100% safe for your nails, and made in Australia. This is super impressive and besides creating these new shades, I’m excited to see where it leads for Lilypad. On application, you can tell the polishes are ‘different’ in a good way. It’s really difficult to describe. The colours are rich and vibrant and just damn awesome!
I have a load of photos, so I’m keeping chatting minimum. All swatches are photographed sans topcoat and I have both sun and shade shots for you.
S-Tealing the show is a deep true teal shade. Jelly style formula, easy to apply with strong holo. Two coats. For the first time, I got hold of a teal my camera didn’t completely hate! YAY!
Shock Wave is a vibrant royal blue. Again, jelly style formula with lots of depth and strong linear holo. This swatch is two coats.
Phantom is a deep, vibrant purple with strong linear holo. Loads of depth. Just two coats.
Ne-Clear Pink is super bright and NEON with loose linear holo. This is two coats. I can see some VNL, however it didn’t show that way off camera.
Nightshade is a deliciously vampy eggplant with red tones and blackened so it’s super deep. Like blackberry juice, so nice! This is two coats. I have some patchiness showing in the sunlight, but it wasn’t evident at all in regular shade and daylight. You could add a third coat if you like, but I wouldn’t find it necessary.
Nightinglae is a pure black linear holo. It has some golden highlights to accentuate it and help it not appear ‘flat’. A personal favourite for sure! This is two coats.
Mudpie is described as a mocha brown, but I think it carries some really lovely marsala tones to it. Strong linear holo. This three coats, however it was opaque with two coats.
Lilypad is a gorgeous blue-green with golden highlights. It appears much greener in the bottle than it does on the nails. A beautiful shade! This is two coats.
You know I die for Lilypad reds right?! Hearts & Daggers is a rich, sexy red, loaded with heaps of depth and good strength linear holo. This is two coats.
Ghost is a WHITE HOLO!! Plenty of people dream of this shade of holo, but we all know it can be hard to achieve. The polish, although being white, has none of the usual properties we are used to seeing with a white polish. It’s like it’s tinted white, not made with pigment, I can’t be positive, but that’s what it seems like to me. Super strange, but super effective. The holo is loose linear and more pronounced in reality than in my photos. My swatches are just two coats.
Galliano was the first shade I tried from this new line and it’s just stunning! The linear holo is very strong and although it’s yellow, it has a light lime green lean to it. I LOVE IT! My swatches are four super thin coats, but that was because I was just getting used to this formula so was being extra careful. You would easily create the same effect with three coats.
Furnace is another personal favourite from this release. It’s a fiery, rusty orange shade. It has loads of depth and strong linear holo. You can get lost in it. It is WOW! This is two coats.
Cranberry Pop is a perfect cranberry red. It matches the namesake to a tee. Another strong linear holo. This is two coats.
Calypso. You need this one! A top favourite from this release! This has a vibrant chartreuse green colours, golden highlights, and super strong linear holo. This is three coats.
Beet This is another must-have from this new line. It’s extremely vibrant magenta, just mind-blowingly awesome. The colour is superior to anything I’ve come across in this shade prior. This is two coats, however those with shorter nails may even get away with just ONE COAT!
I didn’t mention it earlier, as I forgot, but I will also say that each and every polish had a stellar formula with no issue at all and although they seem to have this ‘jelly-style’, the don’t apply as you would normally think a jelly would. It is recommended to wear a good base coat with these polishes to prevent staining, however for me, I had no staining with any of these shades. A couple of them, Beet This, Nightingale and Calypso I have worn for a few days at a time and had no issues.
As soon as my weather improves I’ll be finishing of with Part 2 of these releases, however you can check out the collection in it’s entirety on Megan’s blog, Almost Famous Nails.
These shades are available from Lilypad Lacquer right now. They do offer worldwide shipping, however if your favourite stockist keeps Lilypad, I highly recommend you requesting them to get these in. They are just like nothing else, nothing you’ve tried before.
Thankyou so much for taking the time to check out this longer post. Which are your favourites from this release?
