Today I have a much belated post to show you three really simple manicures I made using some stencils from What’s Up Nails. I’ve had a bit of a head cold so my brain is a bit foggy but we’ll get there, but in the meantime, if I babble, just scroll a little bit.
What’s Up Nails is a US based online store that sells all type of fabulous nail art tools, nail polish and these fabulous stencils and vinyls. I was sent a selection of some of their latest designs to play around with, and will be making use of them with some upcoming swatching, but for now, I hope you enjoy these looks.
First up I have this cute brick design. I wasn’t too sure how to incorporate bricks into a look, but here is what I came up with. These vinyls weeded really well and pulled straight off the backing paper without issue for me. I have found that this is typically the case with most vinyls I’ve tried from this store which is very appealing.
For this look I applied Pretty Serious Cosmetics Perfection Projection as the base, stuck the vinyls on my dried nail polish, then lightly dabbled ILNP Clockwork over the top. I like how it turned out, but I now think I should have used a darker base to make the bricks really stand out more.
Next up I wanted to try the Butterfly stencils. Once again these weeded easily. I think I had to manually remove one or two of the smaller butterflies, but they came out pretty quickly.
For this look I used KBShimmer You Autumn Know, which was a HUGE lemming of mine for literally years. On the ring finger I applied Powder Perfect Turtledoves, and once dry popped my butterfly stencil on and dabbed Picture Polish Spring and Watermelon randomly over the nail. I decided last minute to stick a little butterfly on my middle finger, not sure why, but I was feeling it at the time.
The final look I have today is using the Art Deco stencil. I really love this design and have used it a couple of times already including this manicure with a Femme Fatale polish. For this look I applied Picture Polish Spring to two nails, and Femme Fatale Luminous Spire to my ring finger for some sparkle. For my middle finger, I once again used Powder Perfect Turtledoves and applied Pretty Serious Absence, a black creme, over the stencil. I did have a touch of bleeding, but I think this is my favourite manicure of the three regardless. These art deco vinyls can be a little more temperamental to pull off the backing paper, I think because of the line direction first going one way, then the other.
Which is your favourite of these three?
If you’d like to give What’s Up Nails a try, you can find their store HERE. They ship worldwide and it’s quite speedy in my experience too which is a definite plus. Also, I don’t normally do this, but make sure to check out their Instagram if you haven’t already. It is a heavenly pit of nailspiration for sure!
