Quite a while back now, I thought I’d get on board with some Vapid Lacquer to play with and see what all the fuss was about. This was at the time there was a massive surge of people going nuts over the brand on social media, so of course, I had to give it a go myself.
One of the polishes I grabbed was the much acclaimed, Sweaters n’ Denim, a thermal polish. The shift and the cold state looked so good I had to give it a go. Well, I’ve had it sitting here a while now (as with all my thermals) waiting for the coldness of Winter to arrive! So, yay! I finally get to really try my thermals and have them wear with transition.
One huge thing I noticed when going to purchase from Vapid was the lack of bloggers with real, factual reviews on the products. This made purchasing a wide range difficult, as for a first time buyer, I wanted to make sure the product I bought matched in consistency to the raving on SM. As we all know, nail polish world social media can at times be a little skewed. This was quite a while back though, maybe six months, so perhaps things have changed a bit now.
I was pleased to see that this particular polish held true to what I’d read about it.
Sweaters n’ Denim has a sheer, smokey base colour filled with a copper coloured shimmer. The shimmer is really the star of the show in this polish, and it certainly is beautiful. The smokey base moves from a sheer apricot/nude colour when warm through to a smokey denim colour when cool.
The formula was nice, smooth and easy to apply, needing three coats to reach opacity for my swatches.
I am really loving the cool state of this polish, but I must say, I really enjoyed the overall wearing of it and liked it. I think I appreciated it more because the colours were different and more unusual than that of any other thermal I own. Oh, and I really liked the bottle and brush! You get a generous amount of polish for your cost and the brush was great to use! Thought I would mention that!
I am not sure if this is still available. From what I know the Vapid restocks can be pretty crazy and the shop is usually down between restocks. That’s something that bugs me about brands that do this, as I’d love to try more, but going like a headless chicken during mental restocks is totally not my thing. I am glad I got the opportunity to purchase and try out a couple though. You can stalk the store here if you like to find out when it re-opens.
Do you own Sweaters n’ Denim, or do you own any other Vapid’s? Let me know below!
