Today I have a brand new collection from Celestial Cosmetics to share with you. Inspired by the Inheritance Cycle (Eragon) by Christopher Paolini this six piece collection is named for the dragons. After so many collections inspired by the Game Of Thrones dragons, this was a refreshing and pleasant surprise and one I think works very well!
As soon as I opened my package I knew I was going to love this set and once I actually used them, this was confirmed for me. They whole set of colours are the exact type of shades I love to wear around. Muted, earthy, warm, and matching the inspiration perfectly. The whole collection also is very cohesive with each shade working with the others in the set really well.
While I managed to grab the above bottle shots on a sunny day, when I swatched these it was incredibly gloomy so all my images are taken under artificial daylight bulbs.
First up is Thorn, and I don’t really want to be repetitive with my review, but this is definitely one of my favourites. Thorn has a blackened base and is filled with red sparks, a good strength linear holographic effect and awesome micro flakes that appear a pinkish-copper colour.
Application was smooth as silk and without issue. My swatches are two coats without topcoat. I think next time I wear it I would definitely wear a topcoat to bring out the shimmer more.
Probably the most well known Fire Breather in the Eragon novels is Saphira, and this is her polish! Saphira has a smokey grey base with a silvery-blue flake shimmer and scattered holographic effect. I love the versatility of Saphira in that she can appear a darker silver-grey and bluer in different lights. Due to limitations on some of the ingredients in this shade, this polish is for the time being marked as Limited Edition, so if you are a Saphira lover, you’ll need to get your hands on this one quick!
Like Thorn, Saphira was easy to apply, appearing sheer on the first coat but at full opacity with just two coats. My photos are taken with no topcoat on and it was super glossy and smooth on it’s own.
Another favourite of this release is the elegant Jarnunvosk. This one is absolutely stunning! This one has an ivory coloured creme-jelly style base and is filled with delicate linear holographic particles, golden flakes and shimmer. It looks so very elegant and stunning, much more so than my picture shows.
Application was very easy with the polish being a great consistency. My swatches show just two coats with topcoat which amazed me because I thought this shade would need more coats.
Next up is Shruikan. Shruikan has a dark, black coloured base, strong linear holographic effect and the addition of colour changing flakies throughout. The predominant shade of the flakes leans green and is quite noticeable on the nails. Super pretty, I really enjoy Celestial’s darker holographic shades with flakes they have been putting out this year.
I know I sound like a broken record, but application was again great with this one. Just two easy coats and a lick of topcoat to smooth out the flakes and make them pop.
Firnen is another favourite by far! This was the first one I grabbed because I was so excited to try it out! The shade is slightly more muted than my photos show with the base colour being more of a hunter green. It also has a pretty scattered holographic effect and lots of small golden flakes throughout. It looks so bloody gorgeous on.
The formula of this one was smooth and super opaque on application. My swatches are just two thin coats with topcoat. I did notice my nails had the slightest discolouration after removing Firnen so if you’re prone to staining make sure you wear a base coat with this one (or just keep painting your nails lol).
The final polish I have from the We Breathe Fire Collection is Glaedr. Now I did not think I would enjoy this one as much as I did, purely because I am not a huge fan of microglitter in foil style polishes. If you’re like me, the best way around this is to not apply topcoat to your manicure. Without topcoat, these polishes look freaking amazing! Glaedr is a awesome, metallic bronze-copper coloured foil with holographic effect, orange microglitter and bronze microflakes. My photo make this one lean more towards gold than it truly is.
The polish was, as with the rest of the collection, great to apply and without issue. My swatches show two thin coats. I recommend to make sure you apply thin, confident brushstrokes with this to avoid any streaking of the pigments.
So what do you think of this collection? I love that these are great shades for the coming Fall months in the US so I think you guys will really fancy these. For myself, I wear these type of shades all year round so I am really pleased with this set and look forward to playing with it more. This has to be one of my personal favourite releases done by Celestial this year with great formulas all around and the range of colours that work together.
The We Breathe Fire Collection will be releasing July 31st at 9.30am ACST at both Celestial’s Australian Store and Celestial’s International Store. Worldwide shipping is available from the International site too.
As usual, Celestial will be offering a 10% discount on the new collection in the first 48 hours of release. You don’t need a code for this, the discount is automatically applied in store.
