Recently I was a little bored so asked for some help on my Facebook page, for ‘what should I swatch?’. The first response I got was for red glitter polishes, so hunting through my drawers I went.
You know what? I have pretty much NO red glitter based polishes left in my stash anymore. I rarely wear glitters so lots of them got passed on many moons ago. I did manage to come across a couple, four actually, that I hadn’t swatched before. Four you say? But there’s only three in the collage! Yep, one of them was far too weird looking for my liking so it had to go. It was On The Brink by Arcane Lacquer and had turned orange, nothing like the red I remember it being. It was pretty old though, so meh..
So let’s take a look at these. I’ll start with the elephant in the room, Sayuri Nail Lacquer State Of Radiance. You’re not red, you deceitful polish! This polish looks red in the bottle. I even have little stud earrings I purchased with this polish, they are red too. Gosh I don’t know how to cope with these tricky polishes. Also, there’s no glitter in this…. Ooops!
Still a nice colour, I applied two coats for my swatches and probably could have gone a third as it is a bit sheer.
Next up is O’Hara by Picture Polish. I have no idea why I’ve never used it because I remember before I got it I had wanted it for so long. It’s a very complimentary vibrant red with little holographic sparkles and pink flecks. It sits right on the ledge of being red. Perfect balancing act. I applied two coats and no topcoat.
Lastly is Emily de Molly Understatement. This was a gift from the owner of Emily de Molly last year and it’s so SO beautiful! It has so much sparkle in it’s depths my camera could not handle it. Seriously though, this is absolutely the winner of the three I’ve shown here today! This is two coats and one coat of topcoat.
I hope you liked seeing something a little different today. I am actually, FINALLY, swatching my stash, which is something I have been wanting to do for two years, so I’m a bit excited to share some random polishes with you.
If you have any suggestions for anything you’d like to see, just let me know below. If I can do it, I will.
Emily de Molly Understatement was a gift.
