Madam Glam Gel Polish Review

May 8, 2016

Today I have a product to show you I have been super excited about! I have a small selection of gel polishes from US brand, Madam Glam. I had heard so many amazing things from some of my fellow bloggers, that I really wanted to give them a try, and so here we are!

In addition to the colored gel polishes I have here today, I was also sent their base coat and top coat to try with the gel’s. I will cover those at the bottom of the post.

The first one I have here today is different to the others. This polish require no base coat, no topcoat and leaves no sticky residue after curing. I gave this one a good test as I have never tried anything that didnt need all those things, let alone having not to wipe!
The colour is called Sensual Healing and it appears as a brick red on application, lightening and brightening on second coat. The formula was absolutely beautiful to apply. Very smooth, no issues with flooding or not leveling nicely. It wrapped very well around the tips on my nails. It was just a dream, and so easy! Coat, cure 30 secs (in LED), coat again, cure 30 secs, walk out the door!

I did do a wear test on this and it didn’t hold up very well for me. I tried my best to avoid house work etc, however after a few days I did notice some chipping around the corners of my nails. It wasn’t really noticeable to anyone else, just me because I was scrutinizing it. Apart from that, the gel held it’s shine perfectly and remained vibrant even after a decent amount of time in the sun.

When it came time for removal, as with most gel polishes I’ve tried, it didn’t lift off in one nice piece, it kind of crumbled all up. Soaking was a quick ten minute job, and my nails were still hydrated and looking good afterwards!

I’d say this product is perfect for those who want a super fast, flawless manicure with high shine, maybe for around a week to ten days depending on how you use your hands. I will definitely be using this again!

The rest of the gel polishes I have here today are from their regular line. The first one is called Camouflage. It photographed terribly for me, so I deeply apologise for that. For some freaky reason my camera tried to make it look neon! WTH!  It has a slightly deeper, blue tone (though still definitely vibrant green) to it than my camera shows, though no less beautiful. This is without doubt the best green gel polish I have come across. It was the first one I tried from what I was sent, and I am just smitten!

What my camera did manage to show, and I think you’ll see it, that formula! It is seriously smooth, so opaque and just perfection. My swatches show two thin coats and one coat of Madam Glam Topcoat.

Next up is Midnight Blue. I chose this because of it’s similarity to lots of other polishes I have with that almost black, navy blue and shimmer filled gorgeousness. It looked really, really great on!
I have noticed that I had some pull-back happening with the gel despite capping my tips. My swatch is two coats and one coat of topcoat.

It didn’t bother me for this, and wasn’t notice off camera, but for a manicure you’ll want to wear quite a while, you’ll want it absolutely perfect, so make sure you wipe the sticky layer off your base coat before applying colour. This prevents this from happening, especially with darker colours.

The final colour I have today is called Hurry Darlin’ and it is a super sexy, vibrant red with slight orange tones. You know I just love reds, so have to always try as many as possible!

This one was a perfect in formula as the others, smooth, opaque and a dream to apply. This swatch is two coats and one coat of Madam Glam Topcoat.

I have done one half-assed wear test using the base coat and topcoat I was sent, however I had to remove it after a week so haven’t got a definitive answer on wear time. I had zero wear in that time though. I’ll be doing another one soon when I know I won’t have to take it off for a while!
In the meantime what I will say is, if you can, definitely grab the base and top with your purchase. The base smooths out the nail plate perfectly providing an optimal smoothness for applying your colour. This is particularly helpful if you have ridges or any little flaws in your nails. It also helps your manicure last longer.

The topcoat give great shine to the polishes and it doesn’t wear off so definitely an investment for protection of you colour and overall manicure. They are a must, in my opinion, whenever wearing a gel polish manicure.

You can find all these products and much, much more at Madam Glam’s website. They ship worldwide, and I found the shipping to me here in Australia very fast and everything was very well packed.

My overall thought of this brand is that I most definitely will be looking to use more of them. I think I can rate them as one of the very best Gel Polish brands I have ever tried, and I guarantee you I am really, really picky about gel polish! I was really impressed with every aspect of them and recommend them without doubt.

  • The one-step gel sounds really nice, but all the colors are gorgeous! Beautiful swatches, as always 🙂

  • Gorgeous colours and swatches. I like the convenience of a one-step gel but I’m always skeptical whether they really work, I feel like they’re a mini-gel rather than an actual gel if that makes sense? I need to try out Madam Glam though because their colours are always consistently great
