Hi Guys!!! Remember before I went on my break I promised/threatened you with a post that would be coming? Here it is? 😉
I have been SO excited, waiting for this release. I mean, it has all the good things right!
Pretty Serious Cosmetics + Halloween + Naileontology = Wow!
I know you’re all here to get to the good bits, so let’s put on our nylon and dive in to this spooky, monstrous adventure at once.
This release will be Pretty Serious’s third Naileontology release. These are releases that are generally three polishes that have been unearthed from the vaults of the historical and, in this case, most cobwebbed corners of the nail polish kingdom and had some new life breathed into them.
First up is Baphomet’s Berserker. This is a rich black creme-jelly style polish filled with tiny silver shimmer and glimmering glitters that are lemon, orange, different blue shades and green. The base is very nicely pigmented which I enjoyed as a lot of black jelly based polishes are not pigmented enough and end up looking a bit wishy-washy.
For application I found the polish a little thicker than what I was used too, but it didn’t effect the application too much as long as I was patient with it. My swatches here show two coats and the second coat was a bit thicker than I usually do. I found that you need a good glitter loving topcoat with this one to have a glassy, smooth finish. For my swatches I used an Aqua Coat and Crystal Coat combination. The end result is absolutely stunning with so much depth in a black, vampy polish and the way those glitters delicately sparkle is very elegant and not too OTT.
Fossil Of The Deathworm impressed me in two ways. The name! What a fabulous name?! And the colours! Gah, just beautiful! Unfortunately for me, I did not understand how this polish was meant to look, so I was trying super hard for complete opacity of the glitter mix and was getting quite confused. Clearly, someone *cough me cough* has not spent enough time rummaging through the ancient archives…
Fossil Of The Deathworm has a clear base with the tiniest black square matte glitter and glinting metallic copper orange glitters and a very small amount of bar glitter. The bar glitters are quite small, probably about 2-3mm I would say, so they don’t go all over the place and they are quite sparse through the mix.
Now I want to note here, I can only comment on my experience and the bottle that I received. I did find that the bar glitters were slightly curling, which didnt cause an issue really, it was more of an annoyance, I manouvered the ones on my nails around so they wouldnt cause any problem, and, like I said above, they are not heavily added thorughout the polish. That said, other bottles did NOT have this issue, and I will update here on as I find out more information as the bottles that I usually receive are not the stock bottles that are sold to you guys.
My swatches here are four coats of polish and one coat of Aqua Coat topcoat. If you wanted full coverage you could sponge on the polish, however, this polish is meant to have a fossilized, grungy look to it which is what the makers have effectively achieved here but with a whole lot more blingy, sparkly depth.
The Singing Seed is a beautiful and intriguing polish. It has a clear base and is filled with a complex mix of greens and golden glitters. It is highlighted with golden bar glitters. The bar glitters in this are very nice and have no issue at all. The polish spread smoothly with no catching or unevenness. The surprising thing about it is that it actually has a foil-looking finish in this bright limey, chartreuse colour to the naked eye. On the camera it appears sort of ‘gappy’ but in real life it looks fully opaque and is an absolutely stunning colour. All the glitters blend together beautifully.
My swatch shows three thin coats with one coat of Aqua Coat topcoat. The colour of this is outstanding and reiterates that Pretty Serious really know their greens so well.
The Halloween Naileontology polishes will go on sale at Pretty Serious Cosmetics on Saturday 17th October at 9am AEDST. As usual, all three of these polishes will have a 20% discount applied for the first 24 hours of sale.
But that’s not all… I heard a gouhlish whisper that something else is coming. If you want to know more check HERE or come back to this very spot sometime in the next couple of days…..
So what do you think of these little monsters? Are they eerily spooky, taking you back to a time ravaged place of cobwebbed corridors *insert evil cackle*
