Today I have a massive post for you so grab yourself a coffee and settle in. Arcane Lacquer have re-opened this year with a flashy new website as well as this fabulous eight piece collection which will release on Saturday 31st January.
The Two Tone Collection is made up of eight shades, four of them light tones, and the other four darker tones. As is mostly the case by Arcane Lacquer, each polish is inspired by music that Bec, the creator of Arcane Lacquer enjoys. From bands such as Feeder and Chevelle, it’s all here.
Wasting no time, here is the Two Tone Collection.
STRAIGHT JACKET FASHION
Straight Jacket Fashion is a muted pink toned lavender colour. It contains little blue and green glitters and tiny golden flecks.
This polish is a crelly style, however still wrapped my tips beautifully with no pull-back at all. I applied two coats and one coat of topcoat for my swatches. The polish settled really well and was very easy to use.
Passing Eyesore is the ‘darker’ twin to Straight Jacket Fashion and is one of my favourite in the collection. This shade is one that Arcane make so well, up there with the likes of popular shade such as Strutter and Make A Move. Passing Eyesore is a muted berry crelly bottle of juicy goodness that contains iridescent pink and blue flakies with a dash of holographic dust.
This applied like a true crelly, so it’s important to wait for your layers to dry well between coats. I applied three coats for my swatches as I found I wanted more of the ‘squishiness’ on my nails. This particular one has great depth to it. One coat of topcoat and I was done.
Grey Matter is a muted, greyed-out purple with iridescent flecks and a very delicate, silver shimmer.
In the sunlight it picks up the light purple greatly, however in filtered light the true colour, the greyed purple is the star. I found Grey Matter a really lovely shade to wear. Just enough girlyness for my liking.
My swatches show three thin coats and one coats of glossy topcoat.
Phoarwww! The dark twin to Grey Matter is certainly a special one. Very complex and such vampy goodness here. Catastrophic Scene is a deep, vibrant purple jelly with purple and pink (or is it copper) flakies and silvery dust.
I only needed two coats for my swatches and one coat of topcoat. This one gets super vibrant in the sun with all those sparkles. I love it.
COME BACK AROUND
Come Back Around is a pale green crelly with golden flakies, pink fleck and a golden shimmer. It’s a stunning, elegant green which I loved.
I found the polish I received to be extremely sheer, so my swatches show three generous coats and one coat of topcoat. Bec has worked with and adjusted the polish a little to make it more opaque so you wont have to use as much polish as me to achieve a stunning look. This is wonderful news as the colour is beautiful.
FOLD THE CORNERS
Fold The Corners has a deep, pine green jelly base with amazing luminescent green glitters, blue flecks and a silver shimmer. What can I say…WINNER!
I applied three thin coats and one coat of topcoat for my pictures. Just looks at that sparkle!
THE CAUSTIC AFFECTION
The Caustic Affection is a muted light blue crelly with pink and blue flakies throughout. Even though the blue is muted it is still quite bright and lovely. The sunlight shots I took were very bright, however as always, the filtered shots show the colour in it’s truest form.
I applied three thin coats for my swatches and one coat of topcoat.
POOR LITTLE ANTI SAINT
This colour is stunning! Poor Little Anti Saint is a navy blue with strong teal undertones, and from what I can tell, the shimmer in this one seems to shift teal/green/gold, as do the flakies. I could be wrong, but that’s what I saw.
This polish is a halfway mix between jelly and crelly, so it has great depth while still being fairly solid looking on. I applied two coats for my swatches here and one coat of topcoat.
Overall I really love the concept of this collection. We see Arcane doing their thing with the shimmers and flecks again, and making beautiful, ladylike shades with something to appeal to everyone. The darker shades are definitely my favourite, as they are all so ‘me’ I guess.
The Two Tone Collection will be available from Arcane Lacquer this coming Saturday, the 31st January, with international shipping available. The collection will be sold both as a set, and also as single bottles. If you are an international customer and desire the whole collection, since there is currently a seven bottle limit for weight reasons, swing Bec an email via her site so you can work something out together.
