Femme Fatale Cosmetics= Nerdy Theme?

June 24, 2014

During the last week of May the AIPAS (Australian Indie Polish Appreciation Society) weekly theme was, “Show us your nerdy polishes!”. I have been so slack and not found the spare time to participate in the weekly theme challenges for a while, but I did manage to squeeze this one in. Usually I always try to combine the theme with an untried polish, that was I get to use something that had just been sitting, waiting for it’s moment to shine.

I recently started documenting my stash list so I could keep track of all my pretties, and when I did I came across this one, which I had totally, dare I say it, forgotten about!! This polish is from Femme Fatale Cosmetics and is called Crimson Expanse. It was released during Sophie’s sample sale earlier this year, and I was lucky enough to snap this up!

In the manner of keeping it “nerdy”, I’ll just mention the inspiration behind this polish, which as per usual Sophie absolutely NAILED! The Crimson Expanse is a location in the MMORPG World of Warcraft. Located in a place called Deepholm, it is covered in giant magenta mushrooms and purple rocks, where these nasty elemental giants roam around being all freaky.

Compared toย the Crimson Expanse polish, perfection!! (this photo is with a matte topcoat)

Crimson Expanse is a bright, deep magenta pink jelly filled with a stunning glitter bomb mix of pink, bright purple, and some iridescent’s. It was the same, excellent consistency I’ve found all Femme Fatale’s glitter bombs to have, really easy to apply to the nail. This was opaque in two coats, which is what I’ve shown here. I always dab on the second coat to get perfect glitter coverage (I’ll be doing a series on the application of polishes like these and more soon for those of you interested).ย I then applied one coat of topcoat.

I love the wet look that a glossy topcoat gives jellies like this, but I always find them so hard to photograph afterwards, it literally drives me nuts! So I then applied a coat of matte topcoat show I could show the polish nicely. I love putting matte topcoats on jellies, it always makes them look amazing!

What a stunning polish! I don’t know what made the world turn away from dense glitter bombs, maybe it’s that it usually does take some skill to apply them properly, and we are now seeing a massive increase in polishes that are easy for anyone to apply , I think that must be the reason, as these are just beautiful. Maybe a brief description of applicationย methods are needed when people buy glitter bombs, I’m not sure. Either way the glitter bombs need to make a come back!! I’m going to make an effort to show you more glitter bombs, just so you don’t forget their existence ๐Ÿ˜‰

Like I mentioned, Crimson Expanse was part of a sample sale, so unfortunately it is unavailable for purchase. Femme Fatale Cosmetics does have some polishes that are similar in shade and/or glitter type though, check out, Mana Ruby, Vortex Remnants,ย and The Other Side of The World.

Also, I just want to add here, that at 8pm tonight, Femme Fatale Cosmetics will be stocking not only the newest shipment from Scofflaw, but another one of my favourite Australian brands, Celestial Cosmetics! How awesome is this!! You can pretty much shop for every single one of our best Australian indie brands, all at the one location. Femme Fatale Cosmetics…..making draining our bank accounts dry even easier ๐Ÿ˜‰ I love it!!

Below are three of my older swatches, just to give you a reminder and a taste of just some of the Celestials that will be available tonight. In order they are, Meteoroid, T’s In A Tizz, and Reaper Crew.

Have a great day!
