Powder Perfect, Valentines Duo.

January 21, 2014

Tonight I have something pretty exciting to show you. It’s a Valentine’s Duo that is not all ‘pink and fluff’! It is hot, sexy and when used together, absolutely stunning!

This duo is made by Jacinta, the mastermind behind Powder Perfect, an Australian based indie Cosmetic Company and, herself, a make-up artist. Jacinta researched the market extensively when she fell pregnant with her first child, and endeavoured to research and produce cosmetics that were organic, safe, and stunning. Currently Powder Perfect stock lipstick, ‘cute-icle’ balm (vegan and organic), body balm, body scrubs, bath bombs, and, of course, nail polish. Each Powder Perfect product is hand-made with love, and contains only the highest quality ingredients available.

So, onto tonight’s stars!!

I have quite a few pictures, and so I will make my descriptions informative and brief 🙂

The first polish of the Valentine’s Duo is called, Love’s Lost. This polish is a dreamy, creamy blue. It reminds me a lot of the blue highlights found on Greek architecture. It is extremely potent and pigment rich. (Don’t worry, it doesn’t stain though). The polish applies smoothly and dries relatively fast for an indie. When doing the first coat, the formula can appear it a little thin, but don’t let this worry you! Once the second coat goes on, the colour is fully opaque and rich to it’s full extent. I can see no need to ever require three coats, thank goodness!

The next polish in the duo, is the ‘piéce de résistance’. This one is a glitter topper called, Jar Of Hearts. It is the most delectable mix of glitters including purple and black hearts, purple diamonds, holo dots and shards, lilac glitters, powder blue dots and many more. The colours of the glitters have been well chosen to compliment Love’s Lost.

This topper is an absolute glitter bomb too, so if you are not used to chunky toppers, do a little research for the best application methods. I find that the best way for me is to offload the excess polish back into the bottle, then hold the brush almost parallel to the nail plate, and lightly ‘dabble’ the brush to the nail. If you have too much glitter on the brush you may find it clumps, so just take your time and it’s always better to reload the brush, rather than have put too much on the nail.

For these swatches I only needed one ‘dabble’ of Jar Of Hearts. I still wanted the base to shine through so I didn’t want an excessive amount of glitter. The glitters had absolutely no problem clinging to the brush, they are very well suspended in the base. It was quite impressive!  I kept this mani on my nails for nearly 24 hours (trust me, that’s a long time for me to wear nail polish), and it looked absolutely stunning!

Don’t fear that this topper can only be worn over Love’s Lost either. I tried a quick swatch over a grey, and then a turquoise base, and they looked pretty cool. I have a gorgeous lilac I’d love to try it over soon, which I think would make the purple and black hearts really ‘pop’.
